Several new images of the iPhone 5c have been leaked.
Jimmy Lin, a well known Taiwanese singer, actor and professional racing driving has posted a picture to his personal Weibo page posing with what appears to be an iPhone 5c.
It is unclear if the picture is a selfie or whether Lin is simply posing with the back shell of the phone.
The back shell of the handset has been the subject of most of leaks about the budget iPhone.
As easy as it would be to chalk this up to Lin having gotten a hold of the back shell of the iPhone 5c, there are some major differences between the shell he is holding and ones we’ve seen in the past.
First and foremost, previous shells have only featured the iPhone logo. This shell also includes the standard text found underneath the iPhone logo; namely: “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.” followed by the model numbers and EMC/FCC/IC’s own reference numbers.

It also features the FCC, CE, WEEE and other logos, meaning this is either a production case or Lin is actually holding a fully assembled iPhone 5c.
Seeing as how the phone is due to be unveiled in around three weeks, it isn’t unreasonable to suspect that production of the budget iPhone is already fully underway.
Also noticeable are the power and volume buttons. They have been noticeably absent from previous leaks, suggesting that this may be – at the very least – a back shell of a production model.
What is unclear from the first is if there is a lens in the iPhone – which would be necessary for Lin to have taken a selfie. The second picture (see below) next to Lin’s iPhone 5 suggests it is a final model – thanks to the appearance of a lens and flash being present.
The quality of the picture also raises doubts of it being a selfie. Apple is likely to be aiming for a much higher quality of low-light photography owning to the recent launch of smartphones like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and HTC One.
Regardless, the two images suggest that what we are looking at is the first final production model of the iPhone 5c seen in the wild.

Apple is understood to be planning an event on September 10th. If it does unveil the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s as it is expected to, it will disrupt several other events.
IFA 2013, mobile industry event Mobile Future Forward, and the Intel Developers Conference are all scheduled to take place on September 10th.
Apple has a long history of going head-to-head with rival events and stealing all the focus. In 2007, it unveiled the original iPhone at the same time as CES. It completely overshadowed everything else at the event.
The only time Apple hasn’t managed to outcompete an event it compete with was this year’s clash between video games expo E3 and Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers conference.
The unveiling of the Xbox One and Sony PS4 ensured that the majority of eyes in the tech and media world were focused on what was happening in LA.
However, Apple is likely to face far less competition for mindshare this time – even if Samsung does unveil its smartwatch as it is expected to do.
